People agree on certain criteria and definitions to describe something. The same applies to illnesses – they are based on a definition. The ICD-10 (International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems) is the most important and globally recognized medical diagnostic classification system, published by the World Health Organization (WHO). The ICD-10 lists physical and mental illnesses and describes them with diagnostic criteria.

This classification determines what can be considered an illness and what cannot. As a result, conditions such as anxiety, depressive moods, or sleep problems may already fall into this category. Seeking psychotherapeutic support can lead to faster and more sustainable improvement.

If you are already wondering whether you might be suffering from a mental disorder, we can tell you one thing: You are not alone! According to recent studies, almost one in three Germans experiences a mental disorder at some point in their life.

This makes mental disorders among the most common illnesses overall. Feel free to reach out and explore your situation with me in more detail.

If you don’t suffer from a mental disorder – why might professional help still be beneficial?

You see a doctor when you have a serious or acute illness, but also for minor physical ailments to find relief. The same applies to psychotherapy (HPG): it is for those with a mental disorder as well as for those seeking support in implementing change or personal development.

Psychotherapy (HPG) and personality coaching differ in that psychotherapy involves the presence of a diagnosed mental disorder (which may also allow for coverage by health insurance or supplementary insurance).

Possible Psychotherapy Topics:

  • Depression, Burnout
  • Anxiety, Phobias, Panic Disorders
  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorders
  • Eating Disorders (Anorexia, Bulimia, Overweight, Binge-Eating Disorder)
  • Psychosomatic (Somatoform) Disorders
  • Reactions to Stress and Adjustment Disorders (Overload, Life Changes, Crises, Traumatic Experiences)
  • Sleep Disorders
  • Sexual Disorders (Low Libido, Orgasm Disorders, Erectile Dysfunction, Lack of Satisfaction)

If you are unsure whether psychotherapy (HPG) or personality coaching is the right choice for you, feel free to contact me. We can discuss it over the phone.

Costs

for psychotherapy (HPG) in english in our Düsseldorf practice

Psychotherapy/ coaching session 90 min.

from 150€

Couples session 120 min.

from 280€

The above prices also apply to our evening/weekend/holiday appointments. We do not charge a surcharge for these.

Appointments can be booked individually – you do not commit to a certain number of sessions.

Advantages
  • the costs are covered in full by the health insurance company
Disadvantages
  • Waiting time until the first consultation with a therapist is currently around one year
  • The methods used are strictly limited by the health insurance companies. Therapists are only allowed to use the prescribed methods.
  • We know from experience that these therapies usually take years. I don’t want to comment on the success of the therapy – but perhaps you know people who have undergone years of therapy.
  • You would then have an entry in your file and this would have major consequences if you want to take out insurance in the future (health, disability or life insurance, as well as for civil servants).

We are happy to accommodate your appointment requests
